What is the meaning of "mañanitas"? The dictionary says it is a birthday song but it does not fit the context: Irene tejia mañanito y chalecos... There must be another meaning as well.

It is very old fashioned.

In Spain we call the same a toquilla. This is shawl like which women use when they stay in bed, for example for breakfast. It is very old fashioned.

It is called mañanita as it is often worn in the morning.
