Your most memorable gift?
I´ve enjoyed practicing my writing by responding to questions here, so I thought I´d throw one out, in time for the holidays. What is the most memorable gift you´ve received, and why?
Cuando tenía seis años, solía oir anuncios televisados para una muñeca llamada ¨Bebé Tierno-Amor". Según los anuncios, tenía la piel suave como un verdadero bebé. Molestaba a mis padres sin cesar, y por fin se dieron por vencido. La mañana de Navidad, abrí el paquete con toda velocidad -- pero con la misma velocidad supe que la muñeca no se parecía en nada a un bebé verdadera. Era una decepción desgarradora, pero aprendé que no debera creer todo lo que dicen por televisión.
When I was six, I used to hear TV commercials for a doll called "Baby TenderLove". According to the commercials, she had skin as soft as a real baby. I pestered my parents unendingly and finally they gave in. On Christmas morning, I opened the package as fast as I could -- and just as fast, I discovered that the doll didn´t resemble a real baby in the least. It was a heart-breaking disappointment, but I learned that you shouldn´t believe everything they say on TV.
