I think that says, can I organize some drinks please. - kenwilliams, Dec 7, 2009

Why would you ask permission to - or the ability to - order some drinks? Simply order them and have done with it. In Spanish, nicey-nicey is not practiced. "Unas copas, por favor," "Quisiera unas copas, por favor," "Quiero pedir unas copas, por favor" are all quite acceptable and polite.

I would tone down "ordenar" to "pedir". It sounds a little bit "friendlier" this way. ¿Puedo pedir algunas bebidas, por favor?

I agree - it's more polite to use "pedir". Use "ordenar" after you've been sitting in a bar waiting for service for 30 minutes! - LaBurra, Dec 7, 2009
