The literal translation for "That is great to hear", is - "Es excelente escucharlo, or que grandioso oir sobre eso" but these phrases are not commonly used in Spanish, although these next ones are common phrases that are similar, and are widely use in Spanish:
Me da gusto escucharlo - I'm glad to hear Que bueno saberlo - Is good to know
