A bit confused with the word echa, I think

Hola: I am doing a worksheet on stem-changing "ir" verbs. I am a little confused with this sentence. Where I have put the verb in () is the verb that should be conjugated, and of course I need to supply the meaning.
A little background: in the story her cat Toby has died.
Sentence: Ella dice que no echa de menos a Tobi, pero (mentir)
My answer: Ella dice que no echa de menos a Tobi, pero miente. She says that she does not (??) without Tobi, but she is lying.

"Echar de menos" is a phrase that means "to miss." For example, when you're gone I miss you.
te echo de menos = I miss you (used in Spain and other places)
te extraño = I miss you (used in Latin America)
