How to post a Poor Question

I think I know, because I just posted a poor question a while ago: "English Only! Send Spanish Back to Mexico!"

It's gotten views and a few thoughtful responses. But, in hindsight, if I were to encounter such a negative title, I'd doubt that I would have even opened it.

I was attempting to probe a serious issue with me: the far too common xenophobia that has worked its way into a culture that once prided itself on being a nation of immigrants. Which is a complex topic.

My poor question didn't provide a focus for a really good discussion.

Maybe I'll try later with a different approach...

I am with mortimer. I just posted on the thread so not sure it was that poor of a question but you can always rephrase it.

What I recall from American History is that we may be a nation of immigrants but each new wave of immigrants met with prejudice until the next few waves came in.Though I do not think if the Mexican presence typical of the immigration waves that came through Ellis Island or similar situations. It is a complicated question here in Las Vegas. Many of the local Spanish speaking people make it a point to be sure you know they are of Spanish descent, not Mexican. This always surprises me.

Whether they have this lineage or not they make jokes about needing to hire a good Mexican (hard worker) or wanting them to go back to Mexico (not sure why with this since they are frequently speaking Spanish when they say this)

Why not just go back and edit the title? It is definitely a subject that people feel strongly about. If you get the question right, you probably will keep the thread going longer.
