Sí, Chaparrita. ¡No te preocupas!

Yes, Chaparrita, don't worry. I have found it odd that there are so many terms of endearment based on descriptions of physical characteristics. (e.g. flaquito, gordita, morenito, blanquita, y más) But that's how it is.

A mí me llaman 'Chaparrito'. They call me 'Chaparrito'. grin

Perhaps hispanics find it odd that English speakers (at least in the US) use terms of endearment based on food. (e.g. dumpling, pumpkin, sugar, sweetie pie, honey, muffin, etc.) wink

Soooo....fatso and shorty are "terms of endearment" in Spanish? Interesting. - webdunce, Dec 4, 2009

Chaparrita would mean a short girl/woman. It's a term of endearment and a positive thing. Kind of like the slang "shorty."

I have to say, 'shorty' just doesn't sound as endearing as 'chaparrita' does, ¿verdad? :-D - chaparrito, Dec 4, 2009
