I was reading in the paper today about this dwarf that got pick-pocketed. How could anyone stoop so low?

There is an idiomatic phrase in our dictionary and an example sentence:

I never thought they'd stoop so low as to... - nunca pensé que caerían tan bajo como para...

I've also found this in WordReference

how could he stoop so low? - ¿cómo pudo llegar tan bajo?

to stoop to sth - rebajarse a algo

Hmmm, el juego de palabra se pierde un poco, pero se puede decir:

caer tan bajo

Más o menos se similar.

Thank you. It's true, a lot of phrases don't translate with the same 'meaning'. This is only funny in English because of the double meaning. - 00f2b5a1, Dec 4, 2009
