Extended family = tías, tíos, primos, abuelo y abuela I don't want to write out all the people in my family, so how do I say "extended family"?

Would parientes be appropriate? I thought I remembered Paralee saying this meant kinfolk or extended family in the Learn Spanish lesson on family but I could be wrong. When I used the dictionary, it was translated to mean relative. Thanks.
