Para mis amigos de Hispanoamérican. Is the term "gringo" considered derrogatory? Should I feel insulted as a New England Yankee to be called Gringo?

Gringo = Green Go !! that was used in vietnam war to say: "Hey I killed a US soldier "

But now this term has changed and is used mostly by mexicans, and caribbeans to refer Anglosaxon people.

You should not feel insulted if they say it in a good manner.

For instance I say negro (black) to one of my friends and that does not mean I am rascist.
