what's a natural way to say "excited"

what's a natural way to say "excited"

What's a good way to say "excited", as in "we're very excited about the trip". I've learned "Estamos emocionados / entusiasmados con la viaje" but it sounds really awkward to me (and hard to pronounce).

Does it sound natural and idiomatic in Spanish?

Is there a more natural way to say it? Any expressions that mean the same thing? Thank you!

You have learned it correctly and yes, it sounds natural. Once you reach the point of speaking Spanish without translating mentally, it will sound natural to you too. "Estamos emocionados / entusiasmados con la viaje." This sort of thing is best dealt with by living - if possible - in the country where the language is spoken.

Consider some English synonyms such as :
eager
elated
keen
tizzy

Use our dictionary to find Spanish equivalents.

This might work for you.

"tizzy" is a great word, especially when you have school-agers around! They're always in a tizzy! - kattya, Nov 24, 2009

Well, excitándo = exciting and excitándome = exciting me. "Exitar" means to excite, however those are also correct.

EDIT:

Thanks Sprewett09 for making me think about this...but I should warn, this is typically used sensually, so the meaning/understanding may vary depending on who you say it around. This is kind of like a Gustar and Gozar case.

In response to DJ Huero, I was under the impression that the verb "exitar" was more a sexual reference. Is this true?

Well, typically, yes that's how this is used, but i've heard it used in normal chat before. I'm sure it would depend on the croud you're around, in that sense be careful lol. Good observation. - DJ_Huero, Nov 24, 2009
You are correct. Saying: "Estoy excitado", definetively has the sexual meaning. You should say instead: "Estoy entusiasmado, muy contento, feliz, etc." - RicardoP, Nov 24, 2009
