Does anyone know Suite: Judy Blue Eyes?
Back in the late 60's there was a popular Crosby,Still's & Nash tune-Suite:Judy Blue Eyes. At the end were four lines in what I was told was Portugese. I always wondered what it said. As a New England teenager with absolutely no Spanish knowledge, what sounded like 'goo-va' bore no resemblance at all to the Americanized 'q-bah' so it never clicked. Now having recently purchased this classic peice of music and learned some Spanish I thought, "Why would a Portugese or a Brasilian be singing about Cuba?" so I figured it must be Spanish and I've tried to translate it:
Que linda me la traiga Cuba, La reina de la Mar Caribe. Cielo so? ?? ? ? ? ?, y que triste que no puedo vaya, Oh va, oh va.
This is the best I can do. I cannot hear or translate the third line. Does anyone know the song?
What beauty Cuba brings to me, The queen of the Caribbean Sea, Sky????????????????? And how sad that I cannot go, Oh go, oh go.
1 Answer
Que linda me la trae a Cuba
La reina de la Mar Caribe
Cielo sol no tiene sangre allí
Y que triste que no puedo vaya
O, va! O, va!
A rough translation into English might read:
What beauty! It brings me back to Cuba
The queen of the Caribbean Sea
Sunny sky has no blood there
And how sad that I cannot go.
Oh, go! Oh, go!
