Tengo una "booklet" or small paper-bound book of Spanish idioms (modismos). What is this called? ¿Librito? ¿No es folleto, correcto? ¿otro?

En este libro hay una expressión: "A fines de la noche estuve cansado."

Pienso deber ser: "Al fin de la noche estaba cansado." ¿Cuál es mejor?

Best way to say this is "al final de la noche estaba cansado".

"Librito" may be what you are looking for. "Folleto" could work, but that is commonly a "brochure", which is what you may have there.

"A fines de" is used commonly to mean "at the end of" or "toward the end of". "A fin de" means "for the purpose of".

You described the booklet as a small book. That would be librito. Folleto would be a brochure, leaflette or flyer.

A fines de la noche is commonly used exactly as mountaingirl described, meaning at or toward or during the later part of. So maybe you were tired during the last 10 minutes or the last hour. Al final de la noche is more specific, meaning "at the end" rather than during the later part. This implies nothing about being tired before it ends but only at the end of the event.
