Here's the situation: I'm with a good friend who's driving too fast.

Which phrase should I use?

Or, can you suggest another phrase?

(Sometimes I also add "Idiota...")

The way my idiotic friend drives? I doubt I'd use "maneja." It takes an extra second, which is far too long! - 0057ed01, Nov 19, 2009

You could say "va más despacio", like "go slower". - DJ_Huero, Nov 19, 2009

In short, yes you can. Lento is used typically for car-type movements and despacio is used in the sense of take it easy (It literally means slow). Unless the gurus say otherwise, I would personally use "lento" for the saying. Hope this helps!! smile

you're right, lento usually describes movement EX: "bailar lentomente". Below, robertico gives a perfect example of despacio's use and how you would say "slow down!" - DJ_Huero, Nov 19, 2009
