Zampones to say the Gobblers

Zampones to say the Gobblers

So I was watching The Golden Compass in Spanish and I noticed they used the word Zampones to say the Gobblers. (You know the child-cutters in league with the horrid Magestirium). I love those books!!!! The movie? not so much. But when I looked up Zampones in the dictionary there's no word for it in English!! Does anyone know if Zampones is actually a Spanish word or not? And if it is, what does it mean? Le doy gracias por su ayuda!! smile

Zampón is a Spanish word, yes. I am not acquainted with the gobblers. Do they eat a lot?

Zampar: eat like a pig...jejej

Oh, I can see that zampar is getting to gobble on our dictionary.

No, haha! They're called "The Gobblers" by the kids in The Golden Compass book/movie. The children use the Gobblers as a nickname for the General Oblation Board. See the GOB in there? They cut kids away from thier souls. Horrible, isn't it? - june10, Nov 18, 2009
And it's very funny that Zampar means to eat like a pig. . .that's not what they do at all! Aparently it's used in a literal sense of the word! - june10, Nov 18, 2009
