What does "te hecho de menos" mean?

A friend of mine wrote it to me after I went to visit him in mexico, and I don't quite understand what it means.

It means I miss you. It can also be said "te extraña"

The phrase should be: "Te echo de menos." It is an expression from the verb echar. Look at definition #15 for echar here on SpanishDict.
