Guera ¿Más que 'rubia'?

¿Cómo se usa esta palabra, aparte de decir 'rubia'?

Yo sé que personas en este website solamente están diciendo que esa palabra significa 'rubia' o 'blonde', pero también entiendo que significa 'gringa' pero con cariño (o para indicar por lo menos que la persona es bonita o sexy).

Nuestros amigos en una familia mexicana, le llamen 'güera' a otra amiga nuestra, una señorita de 22 años quien tiene pelo oscuro y piel clara. Nos dicen que es un termino de cariño. Este concuerda con el hilo a lo cual refirió Heidita.

Pero, puesto que hasta los padres en esta familia la llamen así, no creo que piensen en el termino "sexy", aunque quizás "bonita".

I have really black hair (like black-black not dark brown or something ) and pale skin (like something just spooked me :S). Sometimes my best-friend calls me "donita" (there's a pack of little white donuts from Bimbo with that name "Donitas Espolvoreadas" ).

Now, my sister-in-law has blond-like hair (not real of course ) and light brown skin; when we go out together people call me and not her "güera" (even if she's the one with the light hair), but at her workplace she's one of the more light skinned people and the only one with that hair color, so her workmates call her "güera".

Don't know, people will call you whatever they want, as long as it's not something rude I'm good with it

"Güera" is not a synonym for "gringa", you can be of black color but if you're from USA then you can be call a "gringa" but not a "güera", unless it was in a ironic way and THAT would definitely be rude!

If you are a non-native and have light skin, people can call you "gringo/a" (even if you're not from the USA) or ¨güero/a". If you're not from the USA, and tell people that, they may stop calling you "gringo/a" but they would likely still call you ¨güero/a" (blond hair or not) .

Not used in Spain at all, I am sure it would not be understood.
