You can also change the keyboard on your computer to an international keyboard, and then, you can simply:

do ' before you type a letter that you want an accent over ex. á é í ó ú

~ before an n to have ñ

" over vowels ex. ä ë ï ö ü

and for ¡ and ¿ you press alt and then ! or ? grin

The ' is then called a "dead key". - Lasairfiona, Nov 17, 2009

For Windows users, just install the Spanish keyboard in the Control Panel. You don't have to type all that 'Alt' junk....

Do NOT add the spanish keyboard. The layout is actually different and they use the dead key method that is talked about above (the ' before accented letters). An example: the ñ is in the place of the ; and everything over by the enter key is moved around - Lasairfiona, Nov 18, 2009

For people who use keyboards other than QWERTY:

I know this is very rare but there are people that do not use the QWERTY keyboard layout (I used dvorak). Getting the accented letters to work without the ALT codes can be difficult. However it can be much easier if you create a slightly altered keyboard map.

Download Microsoft Keyboard Layout Center and add right alt keys. If you do not use windows, just google keyboard layout. There is an editor for all OSs.

If you use a Mac you just have to turn on International support. You just hold down the apple key and press the letter you want the accent on. It is very easy and works with all keyboard layouts.

Edit: It works now, the mistake I was doing was trying to set up Spanish International keyboard rather than US onesmile

I don't understand the "international version". I've tried to set it up but it doesn't work as you write for me... The "`" is just "`" and not an accent mark, "~" just shows before "n"...

With the ¨Spanish¨ keyboard layout I at least know that " ' " goes for tilde, " " " goes for double dots and ";" for "ñ"... Still, I don´t like that it doesn´t work with the recall section in my Chrome... that way I can never get 10 points from an accented word^^' I was wondering how is even possible to score 100% from a lession:D
