Dio / dio ???

Dio / dio ???

I thought Dio is "God", but in this dictionary it says dio is "gave"? "Vaya con Dios" was said to me in Guatemala. Maybe it was Dios and dio and the s on the end makes all the difference?

Dios is God, dioses is gods.

Dio is the 3rd person singular preterit form of dar, to give.

But even if they were exactly the same, don´t forget that English has the noun reed, which is a type of grass and English also has the verb read, but they sound exactly alike.
