How did this site get started?

Hi,
I was just wondering how/when/why this site got started....This question is probably more directed to the admin since they probably know more since they own it or whatever....:D

Hi Sarah 
Here's a link that talks about SpanishDict, which got started in 1999.
This question was asked a few months ago and Heidita just said --
The main idea of this website was to teach Spanish. The creator Christopher and the teacher Paralee have done their best to achieve this aim.
