I need to give a presentation on a haiku called "El Sauz" y estoy un poco confundida. Here's the haiku:

Tierno saúz casi oro, casi ámbar, casi luz...

i'm thinking it might have something to do with the sun? all it says in this dicitionary is suce (botany).

sauz es una planta mediterránea que también se llama "árbol casto", o "pimiento de los monjes"..... - francho, Nov 12, 2009

sauz.is willow or willow like tree i.e. in mexico usually means sambucus....most towns have a cornwer or barrioo called el sauce...in this context it certainly means willow as in' sauce llorona'....think its arabic root word.
