How do you translate "Statute of Limitations" into Spanish with regard to the law?

Ex. The statute of limitations to institute a lawsuit is 2 years.

Hey Jenny! It would be "Estatuto de Prescripciones".

But since language is alive, this sentence: "The statute of limitations to institute a lawsuit is 2 years" would turn into: "El Plazo para presentar (o interponer) una demanda es de dos años".

In law, especially in Spanish, language sounds older, and the words are more argumentative.

Hope it helps!

(hmmm, the text editor is messing up the link. confused Just copy and paste that in your browser and it will open a very useful pdf document.)
