I did not mean capacidad was wrong...I think there is overlap between poder and capacidad. Actually, since it rhymes with voluntad, it might even be better. - webdunce, Nov 11, 2009

I had a hard time in choosing which word for "power" because in the quote the meaning is implied. Poder seems to imply authority, and capacidad seems to imply ability. I figured that it best matched the implication of willing yourself to do something. - aloshek, Nov 11, 2009

May I make a suggestion? The Spanish sentence above means something more like: "A dirty word has to (must) whisper" as if it is doing the whispering itself.

"Una palabrota tiene que susurrarse." This would be "A dirty word has to be whispered."

"Hay que susurrar una palabrota." This would be "You have to / (one has to) whisper a dirty word."

I know this is not a sentence, but I do tell stories in Spanish. This is exactly how I talk -- so there are lots of mistakes; Oh well.
