Can you please tell me if I used the correct tense for the following sentences. I only know present, preterit, imperfect and future. If there are any other corrections, I'll be glad to hear them as well.

Si heredaste los libros de tu padre, porque no los compartes con nosotros?

La masestra me dijo que Margartita compartó su muñeca con todos los niños en su clase.

Compartíamos un apartemente con otras dos familias.

PS. A disclaimer for the many security guards on this forum: This is not my homework. I don't have homework. I'm learning Spanish on my own. I am currently reading the book La Casa en Mango Street and trying to use the verbs I find in there to practice conjugation and using the correct tense. I can only do that if I get feedback. Which is why I love SpanishDict. Which is why I don't want you to scare me away with all this 'go do it yourself' business.

I had to vote for the disclaimer. - Seitheach, Oct 30, 2009
I agree with Phil - that was a great preemptive strike with that disclaimer - Izanoni1, Oct 30, 2009

PS. A disclaimer in regards to posting corrections: It would probably help the helpers if you were to include your an English translation along with the Spanish version - Izanoni1, Oct 30, 2009

Si heredaste los libros de tu padre, ¿por qué no los compartes con nosotros? (present)

La maestra me dijo que Margartita compartió su muñeca con todos los niños en su clase. (preterit)

Compartíamos un apartamento con otras dos familias. (imperfect)

Regarding the future you can say, for example:

Vamos a compartir una habitación con otra gente.

We are going to share a room with other people.

Compartirás un apartamento con otros estudiantes de nuestra escuela/colegio.

You will share a flat with other students of our school.

Sihara:

Your comment (quoted in part only) was

PS. A disclaimer for the many security guards on this forum: This is not my homework. .... Which is why I don't want you to scare me away with all this 'go do it yourself' business.

I have been active in trying to encourage new members to honour our customs and practices. When I read this, and the supportive comments of 2 members high on the list with accumulated reputation, I was truly surprised.

I reviewed your profile page and your "questions asked" over the last four months and could not see any examples of circumstances where you were asked to do more work on your own before asking a question. I have frequently seen your questions and I know they are only asked after you have made your best effort to identify the best way to express yourself in Spanish and then only for the purpose of asking if you have done it correctly.

You are a 'best' example of what newer learning members should do.

I am truly sorry if any activity of mine has caused you to be intimidated about asking questions here in the Forum

I wish you had not felt a need to criticize us for trying to get newer members to follow your exemplary behaviour.

Moe, I wouldn't take that personally, I don't think she was trying to attack you personally or yours or anyone elses efforts and contributions - cheeseisyummy, Oct 30, 2009
