Mi madre nació en Alemania, pero actualmente vive en Estados Unidos.
I am trying to say my mother was born in germany but lives in america now. Is the best way, or could vive en Estados Unidos ahora be better? I didn't think ahora worked in this context so changed it to what I have now..

Just a small thing, but... it is "los" Estados Unidos.

In Mexico it's "Estados Unidos"without the "los" - mountaingirl123, Oct 27, 2009

There is no need to add ahora when you already have actualmente, so you are good the first way.

Ahora and actualmente are interchangeable in your sentence. Your sentence is fine.
