having trouble with estas(tu) and esta

Hello,i am having a little trouble getting my head around the estar verb 2nd person singular (tu) and the 3rd person singular (el,ella ,usted).when would you use the tu form and the 3rd person singular form.also would you need to put el or ella before the verb estas or esta,thanks.

Hi Lanmac,

A lot of us feel your pain. tongue laugh In the beginning, conjugating verbs, especially the verbs "ser" and "estar" can be a challenge. As suggested, I would use the conjugation tool to see the pattern this verb follows. I'm not sure why you are having difficulties with the 2nd and 3rd persons singular, but then again, we all have things that confuse us.

It is good to see that you have already started the videos. Perhaps you can watch again lessons 1:4, 1:5 and especially 1:11. In addition, go to the Reference Section and read this ser vs estar

Use ellas estan. ella esta. el esta. ellos estan. have to coordinate masculine/ feminine tense singular pluralization.

Hola Ianmac

Look at the top of the page and find the "more" tab

click on it and find the "Conjugation" tab

enter the verb "estar" and see what happens.
