Edited "at" to say "as" which makes sense in the sentence. - --Mariana--, OCT 26, 2009
I'm sorry, Moe, I disagree. The sentence should be "as many gifts as..." not "as many gifts at" which makes no sense. - --Mariana--, OCT 26, 2009
Please see Heidita's last post that answers the question as if there was no mistake in the original post. - --Mariana--, OCT 26, 2009
Cmon Moe, Marianne was trying to do the right thing...no reason to flag the comment. In any casem, I think both at and as can be right, have a look at my post - 00494d19, OCT 26, 2009

Tantos in real life means "so many" So what you are really saying Moe is that you gave so many gifts...which makes no sense.

Tantos can also mean "as many" - Eddy, OCT 26, 2009

Nuestras padres nos dan regalos para los abuelos. I try to stay away from things that wind up being tongue twisters. Anything more than this, in my thinking, would be too much of a mouthful.

On second thoughts the above contains so many mistakes it should be ignored totally.

I'm **** mad and I'm taking my comments and getting out of this thread.

My replies have all been made meaningless by simply changing what Bassfishing originally wrote in his question.

Not really Moe, it should be as many....in either case, and that is : tantos como, not muchos - 00494d19, OCT 26, 2009

Moe, it does not say: many gifts, but "as many gifts" ...at my grandad's.

That use of the word "as" by the original poster tells me he was trying to make a comparison. "AS many gifts AS" (not "as many gifts at")

This is why I changed the question -- to reflect what makes sense in English.

I'm sorry for all the confusion this has caused.

jeje, funny thing is we will probably never know, in any case, he might only have skipped some words, like in as many gifts (at home and ) at our grandparents house - 00494d19, OCT 26, 2009

Hmm, of course, Marianne and Moe, if the sentence did not have a mistake, then the translation is different.

Let's see.

..give us as many presents as our granparents:

Tantos regalos como .....

However, if there was no mistake:

my parents give us as many gifts (as at home, for example) at our grandparents.

Mis padres me dan tantos regalos como en casa de los abuelos.

Moe, it does not say: many gifts, but "as many gifts" ...at my grandad's...en casa de

My parents give us as many gifts as our grandparents

I guess it was as here.

Marianne has given the only correct answer:

Mis padres nos dan tantos regalos como mis abuelos.

as......as is expressed with "tanto.....como" in Spanish.

Moe, muchos is many, not an adequate choice here. And if you say "a mis abuelos" it means to our grandparents
