Stock - pertaining to the stock market

I am currently translating some 401k literature for some of the employees with my company who do not speak or read English.
I'm having trouble finding the correct word for the stock (as in stock option). To better understand what it is I need, the following is the sentence I'm currently translating (for context):

"The Fund's investment objective is to seel long-term growth of capital by investing in stocks of small companies."

Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks.

i think stock can also be translated as "capital" but not quite sure how this fits in with your context.

Hm, I saw that but it didn't quite seem to fit.
OK, I'll go with that.

Thanks, Eddy
