What does moso mean?
My students told me it means a nerd or geek. I do not want to use the wrong words in class and be embarrsed. Mr. Murakami,Science, Life Sciences

HI tatu, welcome to the forum
this word is spelled like vicente has told us, mozo.
As it seems it is used for waiters in other countries.
Here in Spain it simply means young man or bell boy.
The meaning for me will always be waiter. I learned my Spanish in Buenos Aires and will always remember the euphemism of 'mozo sin bandeja' (waiter without a tray) to mean that someone (usually a man) is a homosexual referring to the way that a waiter holds the tray and how they walk and how their wrist is bent.
Is it moso or mozo?
mozo is a spanish word with different meanings depending on where in spain or hispanic america you are.
In Buenos Aires (where I am from) is waiter. But I think that has a different meaning in Spain and others countries in h.a.
All the replies have behaved as though the word asked about was spelled incorrectly. Consider how the answers would be changed if the word were spelled correctly as "MoSo". Look up the word "moso" in our very own Span¡shD!ct dictionary. Here is what you find:
Moso and it seems to mean "moose".
Now back to the original question, could "moose" have come to be used in a colloquial or slangy sense to mean things like "nerd", "geek" or "dweeb"?
What do others think??

I have heard it is a reference to a slave.
