Remitir / Remit
Hola,
I'm studying the verbs in the book 501 Spanish Verbs and have come across "remitir", which appears to translate as "to remit".
I don't know what "remit" means in English (my own language) and it's not a word I'd ever use. I've looked up the English definition just now and still don't understand what it means or when it would be used.
To anyone learning English I'd not recommend learning this word.
However, should I learn this word in Spanish? Would it be useful?
Any help much appreciated, Rangi

Hi Rangi. This is the definition that I use when I use the word "remit" in English ---
Remit = to transmit or send (money, a check, etc.) to a person or place, usually in payment.
Example, "Please remit your payment to the following address."
(to) remit verb - has many uses in English.
set aside - revoke - repeal- rescind- abrogate -suspend - pay - refer - dispatch - forward etc etc
remit noun - area of responsibility - sphere - scope - orbit - realm - permission -province etc etc.
I guess it can be difficult to pin down in Spanish with all those possible uses.
