How to say "a few" or "some"

Question

I know this is probably an easy question for most of you. Just a little confusion on my part. When I want to say something like I understand some words in Spanish. If I understand the first few lessons correctly, I would say. comprendo las palabras en espanol. Is this correct, or even close...lol Or is there another phrase? Thanks in advance for your help.

You could say:

"Comprendo algunas palabras en Español" "I understand a few/some words in Spanish"

Or you could say "Comprendo poquitas palabras en Español" "I understand very little/ a couple words in Spanish"

Hi Gary-Halvors,

"Comprendo algunas palabras en español" "I understand a few/some words in Spanish"

Or you could say "Comprendo poquitas palabras en español" "I understand very little words in Spanish"

You could also say:

Entiendo unas palabras en español - I understand some words in Spanish.

Entiendo varias palabras en español - I understand several words in Spanish.

Entiendo un poco de español - I understand a little bit of Spanish
