How do you say, I should have done sth, in Spanish?

For example, 'I should have saved this file before trashing it!'

Debo haber guardado ese archivo antes de borrarlo. I think that's how it should be said but you should wait for another response =] "debo haber", debí haber" make "I should have 'done something'.
