Is it cuál or la que?

Is it cuál or la que?

I asked this already, but I asked it wrong and the answers I found a bit confusing...so I´m gonna try it a different way...

I want to say something like "You can just select another option because it doesn´t matter which one you choose."

The part that I am finding a bit difficult is "which one you choose."

So, here are my two attempts:

Puedes seleccionar una otra opción porque no importa cuál selecciones.

Puedes seleccionar una otra opción porque no importa la que selecciones.

Now, as far as I know, both ways could be right or both ways could be wrong or one could be right and one could be wrong. One could be preferred and one could sound weird but still be grammatically correct.

Neither one sounds "more natural" to me, though.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Puedes escojer otra opcion, no importa la que selecciones.................I guess it is correct to say no importa la cual selecciones. but to my ears it souds weird It is better to say, a la que selecciones. .....but, i still think that it is better no importa la que selecciones.

Disclaimer...Gus rule there are no absolutes in language.

Thanks a bunch, Gus. - webdunce, OCT 17, 2009
La cual seems to be used mostly after preposition and in non-defining clauses set off by commas. It may not be an option here. - 0074b507, OCT 17, 2009

Puedes seleccionar una otra opción porque no importa la que selecciones In my opinion this one is wrong because it is hard to understand....too convoluted. We can change it this way.......Puedes seleccionar una otra opción porque no importa la que selecciones.............................................. Puedes seleccionar otra opción porque no importa la que selecciones. Now it is understood but still sounds ackward,extrange....................

I would say this ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Puedes escojer otra opcion, no importa la que selecciones.

escoger - 0074b507, OCT 17, 2009
Okay, thanks. I see I should drop una from una otra and you prefer not to see two seleccionars so close together. But how does cual compare to la que in your opinon? - webdunce, OCT 17, 2009
I am trying to say "You can choose any option because it doesn't matter which one you select" - webdunce, OCT 17, 2009
I didn't know la cual was an option Q. - webdunce, OCT 17, 2009
But la cual and la que, to me, have the same structure. I want to know if cual by itself is acceptable or would people understand it but say to themselves "ay, these stupid gringos!" - webdunce, OCT 17, 2009
Well, twice Gus has picked the la que, so should I assume that's the better sounding one. - webdunce, OCT 17, 2009
After some research I do not think la cual could be used in this sentence. - 0074b507, OCT 17, 2009
