I have just recently heard of this. Does anyone in here celebrate it? Would it be like our All Saints Day? (which we don't really celebrate where I am from)

Would it be like our All Saints Day?

Who is "our"?

It hard to compare, because it's different in different regions.

In English countries it's usually All Hallows Eve (Halloween) [Oct. 31], All Saints Day [Nov. 1] and All Souls Day [Nov. 2].

All Saints Day in some Latin American countries (like México) is also known as El Diá de los Muertos. In Peru, Nov. 1 is Día de los Santos Vivos and Nov. 2 is Día de los Santos Disfuntos.

So basically, I say the celebrations differ depending on where you're from.

The Southampton football team are known as the saints and when they beat Manchester united in the cup final at Wembley way back in the seventies their then manager Lawry McMenemy whilst being interviewed by the media said to the TV reporter ask me what day it is, so the reporter asked him to which he replied, it is all saints day, it was for them but as a Man U supporter it was a sad day for me but they have certainly made up for that loss since, anyway that's another story the essence of this is tale Lawry's pun "all saints day".

We do celebrate it here in the Philippines(1) every November 1st. We go to the cemetery to visit our departed loved ones, clean & repaint the graves, offer prayers, & just stay there the whole day with the family. It's one time of the year aside from Christmas & New Year's Day when the whole family gets together. We call the day "Undás."(2)

We do Haloween, but that's so far off from it's origins that it really isn't the same thing anymore.

When I was in high school (long ago and far far away), I remember having friends who observed this day. Yes it is the same thing as All Saints Day which is a day set aside (in the Catholic religion) to pay respect to all of the saints, known and unknown.
