My teacher wants us to write a softened comand, in the subjunctive tense! I dont know how to do it at all! Here is the question she gave us. "Da consejos (3 cada persona) a las siguientes personas usando el subjunctivo.(softened commands)" She gave us five pictures and i know we are supposed to write the softened commands but i dont really know how. The first picture is a man with a headache. Please help me get started on that. Thanks.

Well, "Te aconsejo que tomas una aspirina" means "I advise that you take an aspirin." It is a command, but not a direct command since you are advising that someone do something, not telling them to.

Would softened commands be the structure "Que + subjuntivo"

This is the same suggestion that kddwcro ck gave.

The que+subjunctive is just an abbreviation of a longer sentence:

"Que te tumbes un rato"

[Te recomiendo] Que te tumbes un rato.

[Te sugiero]...

[Te consejo]...

[Te adviso]...

[Te propongo] Que te tumbes un rato.

etc.

Would softened commands be the structure "Que + subjuntivo"? Example for the headache - "Que te tumbes un rato" Why don't you lie down for awhile. "Que te tomes algo para ese dolor de cabeza." Why don't you take something for that headache. "Que no leas más a causa del daño a la cabeza." Why don't you not read anymore, because of the harm to your head."

So the next picture is of two men standing by each other both with their legs in a cast. They looked suprised. Could i say "Why dont we use wheel chairs?" although i am not sure how to say that! Thanks for your help. - afolkers, Oct 12, 2009
