Noun phrase modifiers in Spanish

As a young child, I was taught that nouns were modified by adjectives and verbs were modified by adverbs, The real story is more complicated. Nouns can be modified by five different types of phrases, called noun phrase modifiers.

1) noun phrase: I kicked the table leg.

2) adjectival phrase: I kicked the red ball.

3) prepositional phrase: I kicked the ball on the rug.

4) verb phrase: I kicked the rolling ball.

5) relative clauses: I kicked the ball that I found in the closet.

Do similar constructs for all of these exist in Spanish?

Yes these phrases exist in Spanish

1) noun phrase: I kicked the table leg.

Di una patada a la pierna de mesa.

2) adjectival phrase: I kicked the red ball.

Di una patada a la pelota roja.

3) prepositional phrase: I kicked the ball on the rug.

Di una patada a la pelota sobre el alfombra.

4) verb phrase: I kicked the rolling ball.

According to some sources the adjectival use of the gerund in modern Spanish is increasing, but the usage is considered grammatically incorrect.

5) relative clauses: I kicked the ball that I found in the closet.

Di un patada a la pelota que encontré en el armario.

Don't use "Di" in your translation. It is OK to write: Patié la pata de la mesa - George2330, Jul 8, 2017
Patié la pelota roja - George2330, Jul 8, 2017
