You should use "bebidas alcohólicas". The word "alcohol" alone does not have the same meaning that it has in English. Is more referred to the alcohol for medicinal or chemical uses.

The same as in English: Alcohol. Just remember that the H is silent in Spanish so most times it ends up sounding like 'alcol' raspberry

But it's not really used when talking about alcoholic drinks, so I agree with Guillermo2's answer (I would have voted for it but I can't long face ).

where i am in south west central mexico, "alcol" means alcohol that is sold in small plastic bottles at the drug store. This is the cheapest stuff there is and it is what the serious alcoholics drink.

additional the term "alcol de caña" is entirely common this means cane alcohol and is derived from sugar cane in the next-door state of Morelos where Emiliano Zapata was born in anenicuilco and led a peasant revolution in Morelos against the plantation system. until he was betrayed and assassinated by gunmen at the Chinameca Hacienda

by the way, i was surprised to learn that cane alcohol is very pure and if one gets totally drunk and not just halfway one doesnt have a hang-over the following day

alcol is used for other purposes as well for example the jewelry makers use alcol mixing it with shoe polish to make a substance than is applied to a finished piece with casted gravings so when the piece is polished on the motor the bright polished surface contrasts with the black compund which remains lodged in the tiny grooves this is just a simpler and easier way to achieve the effect of oxidation

additionally, there are many other uses of alcol
