Su and Usted

Su and Usted

I know I should get in more of a habit of using su/usted when needed, but if I happened to forget when speaking to an adult (I am a teenager myself) or some other person of respect, would they be offended?

I am mexican born in the capital of zacatecas. It depends on the country you go to. Like if you were to go Costa Rica Every one says usted to each other. But if you are in Mexico then its a mixture. Older people get the usted and younger people mostly get tu. I say usted to my parents even though we are related and they answer with tu because in the latin culture you give alot of respect to your family members, elders and unknown people.

This depends... if they´re new to the language, I´m sure they would understand that. I think that most people are relaxed enough to not worry about it.

However, I am not of that culture so I suppose I´m guessing.

This is a good question.
