I agree with all of Greg's ideas. I have been using all of those ideas for awhile now, and I find them very helpful. The Bible reading is especially helpful because you are reading they same passages in Spanish that you just read in English. Because the reading is done side by side, it has really improved my comprehension and ability to form sentences.

In addition, I always say the day and date aloud to myself when I wake up and say the time out loud whenever possible in Spanish.

For some real practice, repeat the vocabulary on the flashcards on this site immediately after the Spanish speaking person. Try to duplicate their sound as much as possible.

Whenever I am around any Spanish speaking friends, we speak in Spanish.

Finally, I have a Berlitz program that includes pronunciation practice. First you record a sentence into the computer. Then the software analyzes your voice and compares it to that of the native speaker. The technology is not perfect yet, but it does give you an idea of how close you are to pronouncing words correctly.

I hope this is helpful,

Nicole B.

Get a CD set for when you're driving. I use "Learn In Your car Spanish" It makes you repeat Spanish over and over.

When you're in any store that has bilingual signs, focus on them. Speak the words softly to yourself.

Read out loud any Spanish words you come across whenever you can.

Get a Spanish book, or Spanish/English book, and read it out loud. I have a Bible with Spanish in one column and English in the other.

Find someone to voice chat with using Yahoo Instant Messenger or some such thing.

I hope these ideas helped.

I bought a book entitled "Cuentos Mexicanos" (Mexican Short Stories)..... it is an excellent read. The left page is in English and the right page is the same content in Spanish.

I purchased it on Amazon.com I believe and it is very cheap.

The above-mentioned ideas are also great .. I live in Miami so I have excellent contact with Spanish-speaking people 24/7 but I still need hours of practice being a 'gringo'.
