Candy Sprinkles: Bocabulario
Hi everybody,
This one was inspired by Ricardo's "Bocabulario" thread, but it was a bit off topic so I thought that I would post it here.
A while back, I came across an article that was comparing the different ways to say the word for "candy sprinkles" (meaning the little decorative colored candy sprinkles that they put on some pastries and ice cream). This is what some of the suggested words were:
canela, azúcar de colores, gránulos decorativos, granas de colores, confeti en azúcar, chispas de colores, chispas and confites (with chispas and confites being reported as the most prevalent).
I had and still have no idea how accurate this information was, so what do you think. Has anyone heard or used any of these words (or any others) to describe these little "decorative candy sprinkles?"
If you know of any regional differences in usage could you point those out as well?
Thanks
