The following is a practice journal of the preterite tense. Please edit the following bearing in mind that I am only working on preterite. I´m sure some of the verbs should be in the imperfect tense but I´m just not going there yet.

Hoy de mañana, yo despiertó y cocinó desayuno para mi y mi hija (could I say nosotros here?). Ella no quierió su comida. La Di algo más.

Viemos una película de Dora la Exploradora. Siguiente, fuimos a la biblioteca para Tiempos de Cuentos a diez en la mañana. Buscí y encontrí la película llamada La Misma Luna.

Viemos a nuestra casa y hací almuerzo de noodles y mantaquilla. Eso es ella´s comida favorita.

Any and all help is appreciated. Gracias.

Esta mañana me desperté y cociné el desayuno para mí y mi hija (could I say nosotros here?-yes, but we wouldn't know who we refers to).

- 0074b507, Sep 29, 2009
Gracias. Espera no aburrido. Go ahead and edit that too. ha ha. - quépasa, Sep 29, 2009
So... viemos/volvimos where either could be used? OR can they be used together? - quépasa, Sep 29, 2009
jajaja, nooo, me gusta leer tu diario....y es buen idea para practicar....me gusta el sonido de "Dora la Exploradora"...y noodles y mantequilla ;-) - arnold3, Sep 29, 2009
These are the Days of Our Lives. ;-) - quépasa, Sep 29, 2009
También puedes decir "Regresamos"...cualquiera - arnold3, Sep 29, 2009
there is no word "veimos" I didn't erse it so you would know what word I was asking you about. What were you trying to say: venir or volver? Regresar? - 0074b507, Sep 29, 2009
No, there is no veimos, is there. I was thinking fuemos but between the brain and the fingers something must have happened. Volver would actually work better. - quépasa, Sep 30, 2009

Nicole, I´m just challenging myself to actually use these words that I´m learning. Yes, this is a learning tool. I´m not ready to have a conversation yet.
Since the preterite is all past tense, I figure that I´ll just jot down some of the activities I do during that day. Preterite is scary to me. If someone is kind enough to edit my work, then I´m learning. I learn from my mistakes, not from my fears. Look at how much I´ve messed up already. Do you think I will do that twice? ha ha ha.

Thanks for your interest.

This was a discussion on the forum the other day. I have learned more by my mistakes than anything else. There are so many words that I learned though the corrections of others. - Nicole-B, Sep 29, 2009
Just think of a baby when he learns to walk. He just pulls himself up and takes off, only to topple over a second later. Each time he tries, he gets better. If he waited until he could walk across the room before trying, he would never learn to walk! - Nicole-B, Sep 29, 2009
Thanks so much for the idea. I hope you don't mind if I try it for myself. Imitation is the highest form of flattery....and all that!!! - Nicole-B, Sep 29, 2009
I think I mentioned something on that thread about my own child... she´s a toddler. - quépasa, Sep 29, 2009
By all means, do it. Reading other posts help me also. - quépasa, Sep 29, 2009

Okay, I butchered that. I got my -AR endings mixed up with the other endings with an unnerving form of consistency. I can do this. Deep breathing... I can do this... rolleyes

Hi Quépasa,

I was just curious about what kind of journal you are keeping. I am continuing to look for new ways to study and practice Spanish. So I was wondering if you were using your journal as a learning tool.

Thanks for your contributions,

Nicole B. smile

I want to know that I´m using my words AND spelling my words correctly. I´m currently studying the Preterit and really want to understand how too use these verbs properly in sentences. - quépasa, Sep 29, 2009
