How about the verb "to curse" "to swear" to use bad language, e.g., It's not good to curse.
Oh, okay, I just looked up the verb form and it says:
"Decir palabrotas es de mala educación."
Hmm, I see in your comment ceceestar, that you want to tell your brother that the f-word is a curse, or a curse word.
Maldición is more like a creepy, gypsy woman saying 'I will put a curse on you!' No offense to any gypsies that may frequent this board, just using a stereotypical image that I saw in a terrible horror movie.
A cuss word or bad word would be more like 'palabrota'.

Un hombre maleducado le gusta decir palabrotas y grocerías
For sure, Maldición is your Curse like unto a Gypsy woman, or God placing a curse on the land etc.
Curse words = Malas Palabras, Groserías, Palabrotas, Obscenidades, Puteadas, Porquerías, y Guarrerías.
Those are all I can think of. I learned Spanish in California so maybe that list is mixed with a lot of countries' words for them.
maldición
p.s. I found it in the dictionary!
