Daniel was right, este does not work here.

como éste is not correct. Sounds like a direct translation of "like this" and if you heard is this way....

The accent on demonstratives are only used if there is a reasonable doubt whether you are referring to a pronoun or an adjective.

No puedes decirle esto así/de este modo/de esta manera

No lo hagas así/de este modo/de esta manera

In my opinion these are interchangable.

No, this is a different word than estar or any of its conjugates.

Éste is a demonstrative pronoun that can mean this (one).

In this context como éste would mean like this.
