Neil -AMstrong- or -ARmstrong-?

Question

What's the right Neil's second name? Amstrong and Armstrong are both found in the net for -Neil- the first man who stepped on the Moon!

I must tell you how happy your question makes me. I don't feel totally alone in space now that I see someone else does not hear all the letters. Of course I do hear English ones, as you do españoles! I wish we could upload snippets of what we don't hear. - Janice, Sep 21, 2009

This night I just realized I was wrong my whole life about his second name... sorry Neil!

We would say: "..his last name" (rather than his "second" name.) He may or may not also have what we call a "middle" name. - Janice, Sep 21, 2009

I have seen his first name as both NIEL and NEIL - (Do a google search) I don't know which is correct.
