How many people in here are teachers?

I was just curious. I would also like to say "Thank you for what you do" to those of you who are. I have met a lot of people in my life and have forgotten most of them, but I will always remember ALL of my teachers.

Cheese, what is "prolly?" I looked it up and found nothing. - --Mariana--, Sep 21, 2009
Ha! Yes, please tell us what 'prolly" is? - LAtINaPunKROcKerAConFundidA, Sep 21, 2009
He probably misspelled whatever prolly was supposed to be because he wasn't paying attention in 3rd grade! - Nicole-B, Sep 21, 2009
I think "prolly" means a benign cyst on the foreleg of a wildebeast in this context. - Seitheach, Sep 21, 2009
Here ya go: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/prolly - cheeseisyummy, Sep 21, 2009

I would love to eventually be able to teach or assist in an ESL class. For now, I have been teaching music to a few Spanish speaking people who know very little English. It is very interesting trying to teach a language (music), within a language, with another language. (I'm starting to confuse myself tongue rolleye)

Anyway, I have always loved helping people to learn music or to become better musicians. But now, it is even more fun because I am actually improving my Spanish in the process, while the students are improving their music skills and learning a little English on the side.

Hey cool, what instrument do you play? I used to play the piano, but I'm a full fledged guitarist now. - Charlius, Sep 21, 2009
Wow. I actually play guitar myself. I have taken a temporary hiatus thought to try and get a jump on Spanish. - Seitheach, Sep 21, 2009
What style you play? How many years you been playing? You can do both, learn guitar and spanish, they don't interfere, especially if you're learning..Spanish guitar! - Charlius, Sep 21, 2009
I like to play blues mainly. Some alternative too. I've been playing for 11 years. What style do you play? - Seitheach, Sep 21, 2009
Toco el piano. I always wanted to play guitar though. - Nicole-B, Sep 21, 2009
My mother, two sisters, one brother and several aunts and uncles play piano. - Seitheach, Sep 21, 2009
Were you the rebel who decided to play guitar? - Nicole-B, Sep 21, 2009
All of this talk about music is making me think. Wouldn't it be great to have a site like this that taught music theory? - Nicole-B, Sep 21, 2009
Actually there are Nicole, now I don't know about a site JUST as good, but I learned all my theory by looking it up on the Internet. Everything's on the net these days. I don't know my style, I'm a singer songwriter that considers himself a guitarist. - Charlius, Sep 21, 2009
..a guitarist first and foremost. I play softer stuff, play the blues, but also have been learning metal sweep arrpegios, never know when you'll need a technique. - Charlius, Sep 21, 2009
That is what I meant to say..."a site as good as this one". There are plenty of places to learn on the net - Nicole-B, Sep 21, 2009
I usually like my arpeggios straight up, not mixed with metal. jeje - Nicole-B, Sep 21, 2009
Metal is so forgiving though. - Seitheach, Sep 21, 2009

Hi Phil. I'm a lawyer by day, but at night I teach ESL Classes (English as a Second Language).

We have a lot of Brazilian immigrants here in Gloucester, Massachusetts because we are a fishing town and people come to work here. Many don't speak any English at all when they arrive so our library set up free English classes for whoever wants them.

Currently, I have 5 students...all adults learning English so that they get better jobs.

If you are educating, in any way, you have my respect and gratitude! - Seitheach, Sep 21, 2009
Of course it does! You probably spend more time "assisting" than I do actually "teaching." - --Mariana--, Sep 21, 2009
Yayy, oh and by assistant, I meant slave, hee hee. BTW, what law do you practice? - Charlius, Sep 21, 2009

I love that you post pictures of supermodel Heidi Klum for your avatar! ¡Que linda! - --Mariana--, Sep 21, 2009
Hey, oh whoa whoa whoa..Marianne, are you somehow implying that she's NOT Heidi Klum? Why else would she have the pic as her avatar if she wasn't? - Charlius, Sep 21, 2009
You mean to tell me Heidita is an imposter. That's it. I'm finding a new site to learn Spanish on. - Seitheach, Sep 21, 2009
Hahaha...she can be both a supermodel AND spend time with us here...that's how great she is. - --Mariana--, Sep 21, 2009

Marianne, that's really awesome. My mother, who is also fluent in Spanish, teaches ABE durring the day and ESL at night. So I know how rewarding that can be. Thank you.
