Aprender inglés lesson audio

Although I am from England I did the Aprender inglés 1 and 2 lessons. I have to say that the female voice audio is horrible. It is not because it is "American" ' it just sounds like a robot and some words are unintelligible. Maybe it is that a computer cannot cope with the varying lengths of English syllables whereas Spanish syllables are of the same length and a computer can deal with that. To everyone learning English on this site I say "You must listen to "real" spoken English". I just hope the Spanish audio in the Learn Spanish lessons is better ( I have done all of those and it seems better to me ) Anyone have any other sugestions or comments?

If the woman speaking English sounds horrible to someone whose native tongue is English, then the gentleman speaking Spanish probably sounds just as bad to a person whose native language is Spanish. We don't notice it because he sounds better than our own feeble attempts. Several threads here answered by native speakers have suggested other voice synthesizers that sound better to them than the one used here. (for pronouncing specific words).

...is horrible. It is not because it is "American"

And I am glad to hear that someone from England is learning how to speak their native language more properly by listening to American English. I'm sure that you have found that we have corrected all your mistakes, added more color, and have greatly improved your language. No need to express your gratitude for the updated improvements. LOL

(Notice that we even corrected your spelling mistakes, e.g. color .vs. colour). grin

I kind of like the "American" woman. She sounds very familiar, like the woman who always speaks to me when I am put on hold on the phone.
