Over here, central heating would normally mean a heating source within a house, ie, calefacción central, serving one family. What the poster is referring to would normally be called "communal heating", ie serving more than one household.

I don't think we make that distinction here. We still call it central heating if an entire apartment building getsit heat from one boiler room etc. I fixed an error I had in my link. Read it to see the term district heating. The town I live in had that - 0074b507, Sep 20, 2009
