I am "sounding it out": wee-cho??

My friends 3 year old son was at the grocery store with him and got called, and I am spell this wrong so I am "sounding it out", wee-cho. does anyone know what it means or how to correctly spell it?

Could that have been bicho?

Bicho has a lot of meanings but I guess the person who called the kid that meant:

  1. little terror (pillo)

It is ver familiar and said informally in a nice way to kids.

I think Bicho MUST have been what it was and they misheard him! i am sure it was that! Thank you soooo much! Of course they asked me! having the last name Pena, they ALWAYS come to me! LOL!!

Could it be hijo? Hijo means son, but it is pronounced EE-ho. However, the j is a very throaty sound that is a mix between the English h and k sounds (but more throaty)...so it could have sounded more like EE-ko.

It could also be that the dad is mimicking the way his 3-year-old son says hijo...or some other word. Remember when people talk to toddlers they might use some of the toddler's "words" that might not be recognizable to others.

Of course, I'm not a native so I'm not really sure. But Spanish doesn't have the w sound.
