"deseñas" y un poema...

I'm supposed to be analyzing a poem for a spanish class, but I can't figure out what this word means.

this is the whole verse:

"¡Cuán altiva en tu pompa, presumida,

soberbia, el riesgo de morir deseñas,

y luego desmayada y encogida

de tu caduco ser das mustias señas,

con que con docta muerte y necia vida,

viviendo engañas y muriendo engañas!"

I've translated it as,

"How arrogrant in your [you are] in your haughty bubble,

The risk of death deseñas,

and then it faints and shrinks away

from you mortal being, you give withered signs

of a knowing death, and a foolish life

by living you teach, and by dying you teach.

I mean it's not eloquent, but do you think I got the point okay?

ooh sí, pensaba en "enseñar"

pero heidita, the final "!" está al final del poema. no en la mitad.

Engañas is from engañar which means to cheat or to deceive. I don´t know where ¨teach¨ came from

Typo, this is the correct version

¡Cuán altiva en tu pompa, presumida

soberbia, el riesgo de morir desdeñas,

y luego desmayada y encogida,

de tu caduco ser das mustias señas!

con que con docta muerte y necia vida,

viviendo engañas y muriendo enseñas.
