Remember "blonde" in English can either describe the hair color or a person with that color hair. A blonde. In Spanish the "opposite" of rubio is "morena/o," which is a woman/or man, with dark hair AND dark skin. In Mexican Spanish, el güero or la güera, is a person with blonde hair and light skin, and is very informal. Closer to the English slang word, "blondie."

Didn't know that. Very interesting. Always looking for regional sayings. - Delores--Lindsey, Apr 5, 2010
True.. and they'll use güero even for people without a trace of blonde hair, but who are simply lighter-skinned. It's a pretty common nickname. - nuxita, Apr 5, 2010
So what is used for a person with dark hair and fair complexion? - samdie, Apr 5, 2010
